Certification Validity

WAMSCCA Board Certification is valid for 3 years from the date of issuance.

How to Maintain Your Certification

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Candidates must possess:
1. Submit proof of at least 50 hours of CME/CPD related to aesthetic medicine, cosmetic surgery, or patient safety over 3 years.
2. Credits must be from recognized institutions or professional events.

Active Clinical Practice

1. Provide verification of ongoing aesthetic or cosmetic medical practice.
2. This includes clinic ownership, employment letters, or procedural logs.

Ethical Compliance & Conduct

You must uphold the WAMSCCA Code of Ethics and:
1. Avoid malpractice or patient complaints
2. Adhere to regional licensing and legal requirements
3. Maintain professional liability coverage (if applicable)

Reassessment or Peer Review (If Applicable)

Selected candidates may be invited for a case-based peer review or oral update discussion, especially if significant gaps or updates are noted in training records.

Update Your Credentials

Notify WAMSCCA of any changes in:
1. Clinic or institutional affiliations
2. Licensure status
3. Contact and professional information

Optional Renewal Distinctions

You may qualify for special distinctions during renewal:
  • With Pro Bono Recognition – for those who provide free or charitable services
  • With Academic Distinction – for trainers, speakers, or published authors in the field
  • With Excellence in Practice – based on peer feedback and outstanding clinical standards

What If My Certification Expires?

  • A grace period of 3 months is offered after expiry.
  • Reinstatement requires submission of all documents, CME credits, and a short assessment or revalidation interview.
